 City and Tirin Kot City experienced multiple armed clashes between the for=
mer GOA forces and the IEA in the previous years of conflict, and it is cha=
racterised by heavily damaged culverts, potholes, uneven and at times inexi=
stent tarmac, and intermittent network coverage.<br /><br /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">On 12 September, INSO conducted a road =
assessment and found a 23km segment of the route that was neither paved nor=
 levelled, with no access to medical facilities or safe havens, and complet=
ely without network coverage.</div>								</div>

highway is assessed as accessible for NGO travellers. However, the route pr=
esents several risks for NGO staff due to the poor condition of the highway=
 and the lack of mobile phone coverage along the road. Although the presenc=
e of items of ERW on secondary roads still poses a threat to travellers, th=
e &nbsp;main road &nbsp;has been demined and OAG activity is assessed as mi=
nimal and not posing a direct threat to NGOs. However, authorities have not=
 yet invested resources to repair damaged segments of the highway and rebui=
ld telecommunication antennas, thus causing some districts to be completely=
 isolated.<br /><br /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">The segment from the <a href=3D"https:/=
/goo.gl/maps/cBiuhTxRPDgDm4RA9">Jandar</a> area to the <a href=3D"https://g=
oo.gl/maps/xvanK7my9Lm7HZxG9">Tanachuy</a> area of Shawalikot District is c=
onsidered high risk to &nbsp;undertake in a two-wheel drive vehicle. The se=
gment, approximately 23 km long, takes around 70 minutes to cross and compl=
etely lacks mobile network coverage. The nearest clinic is <a href=3D"https=
://goo.gl/maps/MuPdEHoBQAgAbxWm6">Shahbaz Bellalkhail Clinic</a> in Shawali=
kot DAC. In said segment, sedan-type vehicles are likely to experience dama=
ge because they may scrape their undercarriages due to their low frames. Fu=
rthermore, this segment is characterised by holes covered with sand. Cars o=
ften sink into these holes and two-wheel drive vehicles are usually unable =
to drive out.<br /><br /></div>

iderably raise the risk for travellers to experience vehicle breakdown and =
road accidents, potentially leading to injury.</div>								</div>

trip with a 4x4 vehicle, and train drivers on driving this type of vehicles=
 on damaged roads.<br /><br /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">NGO vehicles should be equipped with a =
basic repair kit (flashlight, tyre puncture sealant glue, slip joint pliers=
, bungee cords, screwdriver, gloves, snap blade knife, jumper cables) and a=
 first aid kit.<br /><br /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">NGOs are advised to carry a satellite p=
hone or a satellite messenger in case of emergency.</div>								</div>
