</strong>: The Ministry of Disaster Management announced that provinces in =
the Eastern Region would be affected by heavy rains for the upcoming two da=
ys, with a potential of flash floods in multiple provinces. It is predicted=
 that the Eastern Region as a whole will experience rainfall amounting betw=
een 10 and 35 mm, and wind gusts between 20 to 65 km/h.</p>
<p>As of now the following roads have been particularly impacted since the =

 landslides can be expected. This, in turn, may cause movement constraints =
for NGOs conducting program activities in the Eastern Region.</div>

<div>In the eventuality of flash floods in the upcoming days, secondary roa=
ds are most likely to be affected for longer periods of time, while main ro=
ads will be cleared relatively fast. This was the case in the last flash fl=
ood warning given on 06 July, where major roads such as the Asadabad-Chapad=
ara Road was re-opened within seven hours from it being obstructed.<br /><b=
r />Secondary roads, especially in remote locations such as Nuristan, remai=
n difficult to reach for IEA authorities. This is largely due to prioritiza=
tion of major highways and a limited capability to reach secondary roads in=
 remote areas. As such, in the last warning of flash floods and landslides =
given by the Afghanistan Meteorological Directorate on 06 July, the Chapada=
ra-Parouns Road took approximately 10 days to be cleared of debris. Additio=
nally, it was a combined work conducted by IEA authorities and civilians as=
sisting in the re-opening of the road.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>The entry to Jalalabad City through PD 7, Nazar Abad area will be spec=
ifically impacted in the eventuality of heavy rains in the upcoming days. T=
he bridge in the area has been damaged due to a flash flood that occurred o=
n 24 July. IEA authorities are still trying to repair the infrastructure, w=
ith no timeline in sight due to the gravity of the structural damage caused=
 by the flash flood to the bridge. As of now, there is a paved alternative =
route that connects Daronta and Bahar Abad areas and is accessible to all t=
ypes of vehicles.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Finally, it is important to note that the above areas are approximate =
locations believed to be at a higher risk of flash floods, and flash floods=
, including landslides might also occur in other areas.<br /><br />
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">While the major roads in the region are=
 less likely to be affected, NGOs travelling within the region are advised =
to avoid non-essential travel in the event of heavy rainfall.</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">If travelling is necessary, NGOs are ad=
vised to update their mission plans accordingly, by having multiple locatio=
ns as safe havens to shelter, in the eventuality of road closures due to fl=
ash floods and landslides. NGO safety managers are advised to equip their v=
ehicles with food, water, and communication either in the form of multiple =
SIMs cards with different providers or satellite phones, to be used in case=
 of emergencies.</div>
