Please refer to the JACK-Kunduz COVID-19 hospital's most recent Updated =
bulletin for 1st week of Aug 2022.

1.      1,462 clients who were suspected of having COVID-19 underwent =
COVID-19 screening (753 males and 709 females).

2.      663 suspect COVID-19 cases samples were sent to PCR for COVID-19 =
confirmation (231 males and 432 females).

a.      Out of 663 PCR tested for COVID-19, 157 PCR Tests were confirmed =
positive for COVID-19 (66 males and 91 females)

b.       Eighty-seven (87) new PCR and clinically positive cases were =
admitted to the hospital (IPD) (31 males and 56 females).

c.      Twenty-seven (55) patients have recovered and have been =
discharged from the hospital (17 males and 38 females).

d.      One (1) female patient died during the first week of August 2022 =
in hospital.=20

3.      In 374 different sessions, a total of 13,220 individuals have =
received health education and awareness of COVID-19.

4.      A total of 256 COVID-19 confirmed patients=E2=80=99 friends, =
relatives, and family members have been contacted and traced for =
COVID-19 suspicion.=20

5.      The average Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) was 185.7% from 27 July to =
03 Aug 2022.

Note:

As the updated data show, the COVID-19 cases are resurging in =
Afghanistan, with most cases being reported from the Northern region, =
particularly Kunduz province. The data from Kunduz indicate that =
following the EID ul Adha the PRC tests positivity rate increased by =
24%, and the BOR for the 1st week was 186%.  This might be the sign of a =
new wave, i.e. the fifth in the country. The COVID-19 hospital run by =
JACK with support from AHF/UNOCHA is the only dedicated hospital for =
COVID-19 management in the region. Since the current contract of the =
mentioned hospital ends on 24th August 2022, therefore, I would like to =
draw your kind attention to the matter for any possible option we might =
have to maintain the services of this hospital beyond August to make =
sure the services are provided without any interruption
