eams of employees from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Ministry of Commu=
nications and Information Technology (MoCIT) began visiting NGO compounds. =
At least three NGO compounds have been visited in PD 10's Qala-e Fatullah a=
rea and in PD 3's Kart-e Char area.&nbsp;<br /><br />The officials are repo=
rtedly working off a list of multiple NGOs, presumably including those NGOs=
 who had licensed VHF devices before, and visits are expected to continue o=
ver the coming few days, focusing on areas hosting a larger NGO presence. T=
he officials are not conducting searches of the compounds, but rather polit=
ely asking to see the devices present at the location along with the licens=
es from the MoCIT and the MoI letter approving the use of the respective fr=
equencies. <br /><br />Expired licenses can result in fines, of 100 AFN per=
 day of delay for the VHF devices and of 1,000 AFN per day of delay for rep=
eaters. Per INSO's information thus far, no devices were confiscated.&nbsp;=

r staff that such visits may take place today or in the coming days, and th=
at these will not be announced visits. As before, NGOs are advised to verif=
y that all their devices have valid licenses, as applicable, including VHF =
radios and satellite phones.&nbsp;<br /><br />In preparing for a potential =
visit, NGOs are advised to locate their VHF radios and related devices, alo=
ng with the licenses, to be able to present them to visiting MoI and MoCIT =
officials.&nbsp;<br /><br />NGO staff are advised to verify the identity of=
 those visiting by requesting an ID card or official letter and to be polit=
e. NGO staff should receive the officials in a room and present the devices=
 along with licenses, and explain their internal visitors' policy and movem=
