> At the time and location noted above, an uncertain number of men armed wi=
th handguns opened SAF on a bus while it was used by IEA forces. The&nbsp; =
vehicle was picking up members of the Air Force at their private residences=
, in order to bring them to the former ANA base located next to Herat Airpo=
rt. <br /><br />The majority of the individuals in the bus are reported to =
be former ANA members.&nbsp;<br /><br />As a result of the attack, eight in=
dividuals who were inside the bus were reportedly injured, and one was kill=
ed. The exact casualty figures are subject to change.<br /><br />IEA forces=
 manning the nearest checkpoint, located at Mostofiyat Square, responded to=
 the incident and came to the area of the incident. The perpetrators of the=
 attack had already fled the area.<br /><br />IEA forces blocked the main r=
oad in both directions of traffic, in order to remove the bus. As of writin=
g, the Sarak-e Ferqa Main Road remains closed to civilian traffic, from Mos=
tofiyat Square to Jakan intersection. IEA forces have increased their prese=
nce in the area.<br /><br />At the same time as the SAF attack on the bus t=
ook place, another bus used by IEA forces was also attacked by unknown arme=
d men (see: AFGHANISTAN/WEST/R/04072022/#001).</div>
