Dear Heads of EPHS and BPHS Implementing partners in the North and
Northeast regions of Afghanistan,

First of all, let me thank each agency of ensuring excellent coordination
and collaboration on provision of health services to the people with UNICEF
and other stakeholders in their provinces.

I am writing this email to ask your support to UNICEF Child Protection team
in the region who are prepared to provide particular services to children
and their mothers using health facilities. Child Protection support entails
establishing Child Friendly Space (CFSs) and Psychosocial Centres (PSCs)
within the health facility that will provide psychosocial support,
recreational activities, social work including awareness raising sessions.
There will be referral pathways for children with special needs and further
follow up through the social workers. Children whose mothers are admitted
at in-patient wards, will be provided with toys and other recreational
support to entertain them while their mothers are being treated in bed.
Social workers may invite children for more sessions and will follow up the
cases for future interventions.

As a follow-up to our coordination meeting of 17 May 2022 in Mazar City, I
assure you of our commitment to make our coordination meeting more regular
and frequent. We aim for quarterly get-togethers at the moment with open
dates and times for urgent issues as needed.
