/kV52Pt8MdBmxHXzKA">Te Khoch</a> at 0015 hrs and all clashes subsided. Mehd=
i's followers retreated approximately 3 km eastward to the mountainous <a h=
ref=3D"https://goo.gl/maps/PN74eUTwKGLxp8mu6">Hosh</a> area. The former IEA=
 Hazara commander reportedly continued to operate with 150 men.&nbsp;<br />=
<br />The latest reports on casualties suggest that since 2000 hrs on 24 Ju=
ne, at least 20 of Mehdi's followers were killed in BBIED attacks and an ad=
ditional 10 were killed during the helicopter airstrikes, which also wounde=
d 20. On the IEA's side, seven of its members were killed and 18 were wound=
ed.<br /><br />Thus far, the IEA has not been reported to have used indiscr=
iminate violence against civilians.<br /><br />Further clashes are expected=
 to occur in the Hosh area in the upcoming days as the IEA is likely to pur=
sue Mehdi.&nbsp;&nbsp;</div>								</div>

:</strong> The armed clash restarted at approximately 2000 hrs in the title=
 location. IEA forces allegedly crossed the <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/maps/=
Uxjtqk1PQyvMZ2wB6">Koh Moshkhana</a> area and advanced at least 5 km into B=
alkhab District. At the time of writing, they reached the <a href=3D"https:=
//goo.gl/maps/WYUio287BowaFVH66">Shair Qala</a> area and reports suggest th=
at they were advancing towards Balkhab's DAC <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/maps=
/qaY4RHfbtnGswU8j6">Te Khoch</a> with minor or no resistance.&nbsp;<br /><b=
r />Unconfirmed reports indicate that the armed clash restarted when two IE=
A members pretended to surrender, following which they detonated their BBIE=
Ds. As of 2100 hrs, the IEA has also been reported to have used helicopter =
airstrikes. The explosions killed at least 20 of Mehdi's followers and allo=
wed the IEA to enter Balkhab District.<br /><br />Further clashes are expec=
ted to occur across Balkhab, depending on the direction in which Mehdi's fo=
rces will retreat.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">The previous advisory to avoid the area=
 is now extended to the whole of Balkhab District.</div>

g> The armed clash subsided and both groups retreated to their initial posi=
tions. The IEA made no territorial progress and remained in the <a href=3D"=
https://goo.gl/maps/o9CdvgLPeJ8oj9cs9">Ashtor Gardan Pass</a> area at the t=
ime of writing, while Mehdi's followers continued to defend the <a href=3D"=
https://goo.gl/maps/Uxjtqk1PQyvMZ2wB6">Koh Moshkhana</a> area.<br /><br />I=
nitial reports suggest that two IEA members have been killed and seven have=
 been wounded. Three of Mehdi's supporters have also been wounded during th=
e clash.<br /><br />Further confrontations are expected to occur as forces =
on both sides remained in the area.<br /><br />The previous advisory to avo=
id the area remains in place.</div>

orces of former IEA commander Rumi Mehdi Mujahid and the IEA. This clash wa=
s reportedly initiated by Mehdi's forces after they ambushed several IEA me=
mbers patrolling the road between the <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/maps/o9Cdvg=
LPeJ8oj9cs9">Ashtor Gardan Pass</a> and the <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/maps/=
Uxjtqk1PQyvMZ2wB6">Koh Moshkhana</a>&nbsp;area.&nbsp;<br /><br />Casualties=
 have been reported, though the exact number remained unknown at the time o=
f writing.<br /><br />The road has been closed to civilian traffic since 21=
 June. The clash is a part of a broader effort of the IEA to regain control=
 over Balkhab District, and further armed confrontations are expected in th=
