Dear Nutrition Cluster Colleagues:

Thank you so much for your participation and presence today.

I here send a summary of key discussions we had today. The details are in 
the respective PowerPoint which will be sent out with meeting minutes.

Spring Contingency Planning: 24 priority provinces at-risk of drought are 
identified. Because of the emergency nature of this plan, it is more focused 
on life-saving aspect. This does not however mean that the longer term 
solution to improve nutrition are not explored. HDN is one initiative to 
bridge the short and long term initiatives. The severity status based on IPC 
and GAM are not matching for a few provinces because malnutrition is 
triggered by multiple factors. The severity status based on IPC and GAM does 
not indicate cause and effect. It indicates a strong correlation and help us 
plan and prioritize.

Cash for Nutrition: The guideline is being finalized and will be shared with 
partners. There was an inquiry on the primary objectives of cash and impact 
on nutrition from cash distribution. The objectives are to not only improve 
access to IPD SAM services but also to improve the nutrition outcome (e.g. 
helping caregivers complete the entire treatment cycle instead of leaving 
the facility without completing the full course of treatment, helping reduce 
defaulter). That is improving cure rate as well.

Fill the Gap Nutrient Analysis: This is to improve nutrient density of a 
diet. It will look at food availability – particularly on the cost of a 
healthy and nutrious diet, who can afford or how many are having or not 
having healthy and nutritious diet. This will also be useful to link to food 
security assessment with nutrition dimension.

Update on IMAM Evaluation findings: there were nine recommendations from 
this formative IMAM evaluation. Only one recommendation on using MUAC for 
under 6 months of infants is not accepted. Though there are some global 
evidence on the use of MUAC for this age group, WHO has not recommended 
this. Consult further with IMAM and WHO.

Assessments: all partners must try to do as much assessment as possible as 
many of the assessments did not occur last year. (note: there were already 
guidelines sent out including COVID-19 preventive measures).

Disability Reporting: There is a great push from global and country level 
humanitarian community including OCHA around reporting on disability. 
Therefore, partners must start reporting on this.

Updates: ORCD, Acted for Development, and WVI updated their work in 
nutrition and FAMILY MUAC projects.

WFP (there was a note from WFP in the chat box which we did not cover during 
the meeting):  The issues of MAM-TSFP Reporting in NND is mostly over-come 
and thanks to PND colleagues, partners present in today’s virtual meeting. 
All are requested if they still have any problems and need support from PND.
