Dear Nutrition Cluster Colleagues:

Thank you so much to you all for your presence, questions, and your 
presentations/update on your agency’s work.

I thought I send a summary of important discussions we had today at our 
meeting as below (also before I my mind spaces out). In the summary below, 
I would not repeat the information of what is described in the PowerPoint.

The summary is on discussions, questions raised, and follow-up action that 
need to be done:

Agenda: IMAM performance from the 4th quarter of 2020  by PND/MoPH and IMAM 
TWG

a.	There were discussions on how target is set (target setting), why 
achievement is more than target
b.	A point well-noted on including analysis on MAM program as IMAM involves 
both SAM and MAM treatment programs.
c.	IMAM working group to kindly provide a summary explanation on inquires 
(point (a)above) made.

Agenda:  2020 HRP Progress by Dr. Azimi

a.	how the data is validated or the data quality assurance mechanism in 
place, the source of data.

Some responses were already given – e.g. UNICEF also use other reporting 
mechanism through nutrition extenders, field visits, the data source being 
improved NND on-line reporting system

b.	There should also be update on MAM program.
c.	There will be an orientation to NND for partners at the next cluster 
meeting. Please also get in touch with Dr. Azimi if your organization cannot 
access to this on-line reporting system

Agenda: MAMI: Nutritionally at-risk mothers and infants under 6 months by 
Save the Children

a.	There was a question on how nutrition services in MAMI program pathway 
link to reducing stunting
b.	There is a deficit of IYCF – i.e. infants (i.e under 6 months) aspect of 
overall IYCF is ignored. This age group often not brought up to MHT and/or 
that often not probed on how old a child is. This presentation and pilot 
program brings visibility to this age group.
c.	There was a section on the form that assess mental health situation of 
women. Do these three questions in the form provide full understanding of 
mental health of women? This needs to be address further and strengthen 
further as program starts rolling and mature and improve.

Agenda: Update on assessment conducted by AAH

a.	There was an inquiry about collection of core nutrition indicators v.s. 
optional nutrition indicators. Due to minimizing amount of time that 
interview and respondent physical contacts, this was not possible. However, 
we may have to use every opportunity to obtain core indicators.
b.	This is also we would like to work with FSAC partners to get such core 
nutrition security indicators.
c.	95% CI of GAM is wide – this needs to be looked into further.
d.	The Nutrition Cluster wider partners needed update on what is happening 
with Assessment and therefore AAH was requested to present.
e.	More detail discussion should take place AIM working group meeting.

Agenda: Meteorological analysis by FEWSNET

a.	FEWSNET provided thorough meteorological analysis
b.	This analysis should aid in developing and revising partners’ business 
contingency and emergency response plan, should there be additional shocks 
(climatic ones) besides existing shocks from conflicts/insecurity
c.	Nutrition Cluster requests FEWSNET to reflect other fruits and vegetables 
grown and/or imported in the seasonal calendar FEWSNET presented
d.	A map with different food grown in different provinces would also be 
useful.

Agenda: Supplies stock out will happen in Quarter 2 to meet the critical 
life-saving needs of HRP 2021.

Agenda: Updates from the cluster

a.	Cluster Coordinator updated the partners on concept note submission, AAP 
discussion, participation in health and Food security cluster meetings, 
flagging to partners about how they can play a role in COVID-19 vaccination 
especially for white areas (relaying the message from Health Cluster)
b.	Access issue was raised with Humanitarian Coordinator.  And that Cluster 
would like to see “guaranteed” access instead of having “negotiated” 
“case-by-case access”.
c.	There is a needs to update nutrition information in Afghanistan. Looking 
into DHS as an advantage for obtaining nutrition information. As of now DHS 
data capture tool is limited in accessing micronutrient component. 
MoPH/PND, UNICEF, WFP, and WHO will be contacted to ensure that DHS will 
also capture nutrition information.
