As follow-up to our previous communication and also discussion in last 
nutrition cluster meeting, we would like to improve OPD-MAM data reporting 
through National Nutrition Database. For this purpose besides other required 
actions, proper understanding of WFP nutrition focal points is crucial, 
therefore we would like to have your support for conducting a virtual 
training session on NND for WFP nutrition focal points.

Our suggested timing for this training session is coming Thursday 5th 
November 9am – 11:30am.

Please let us know if you will be able to provide the required support, and 
if the suggested timing can work for you.

Note: As below am sharing some of the issues identified by our field offices 
nutrition colleagues, so we can also discuss and clarify if some options 
will be already existing in database and some others critical things can be 
considered for future possible revision.

Key challenges/ constraints in the process of OPD-MAM/TSFP data entry

Recommendations/Way-forwards

Food stock opening balance and closing balance to be automatic in NND

We suggest if the Opening Balance of food is automatic it would be great and 
avoid the mistakes. E.g closing balance of food stock of last month should 
be automatically captured in the opening balance of next month by the 
system.

System is rounding up the 0.5 kg of food

Since SC to PLWs and RUSF to children are distributed in Kg. The monthly 
ration of PLWs is 7.5kg and if 11 PLWs receive SC in X clinic it will be 
equal to 82.5kg while entering the 82.5kg in NND, it automatically rounds up 
to 83kg, this makes a huge difference in the provincial total when all TSFP 
sites clinics are entered. We request you to adjust the database to accept 
the 0.5kg as well and it should not roundup or round down. Immediate 
solution is that in one TSFP site CP rounds down and in another CPs roundup 
.

Quantity transfer out and Quantity Transfer In

The option of qty transfer out is existing in NND while the “quantity 
transfer in” is not existing or we were not able to find. Other AOs to share 
their views if this exists. If Transfer In is not existing then NND 
developer need to add this.

There is no column to capture the total received food at the provincial 
level only the dispatched food to the HFs capture but mostly food dispatches 
by WFP to the main WH

To make an option to capture the total dispatched food to the CP main WH

MZR /AO covers the urban clinics that belong to DOPH through an agreement 
between BDN and DOPH while generating the provincial report, the separate 
report generated under BDN and DOPH it should again edit by CP to make it 
one provincial report.

If an option is given to generate one provincial report to capture both 
data BDN and DOPH

Sometimes all data are correctly entered in NND but when extracting it in 
the pivot table shows that data is missing.

There is a technical issue that should be solved.

In the NND there is no column to capture the number of food recipients ( as 
it is in the excel sheet).

A column should add.

Issues while entering the reports in NND for some clinics, which delay the 
entry on due time, thus the CPs still keep submitting the excel sheet to WFP

Close coordination and timely action is needed to solve any technical 
problems of NND with the CPs on timely basis, sometimes it takes too long, 
the CPs can’t enter the data in some specific sites/clinics.

CPs are not able to complete the TSFP data entry in NND on agreed time due 
to poor internet, technical issues or any other issues, therefore the CPs 
prefer to submit the existing excel sheet to WFP.

As the NND is the govern/BPHS online database, therefore PND/Nutrition 
Cluster support is required to develop a better mechanism to make sure the 
TSFP reports are captured in NND on timely basis, once it is standardized, 
then the CPs don’t need to share the excel sheet to WFP.

TSFP CPs suggested training for those who are using NND.

PND/Nutrition Cluster support for training of relevant partners on NND.

Currently the NND is blocked by PND “ Said Helmand TSFP focal point” and 
they are not able to enter data to NND. The TSFP focal points have no direct 
contact with PND and or UNECIF to share issue with them. They first do 
communication with PNOs for sharing the issues with relevant staff.

Timely response to the query of TSFP focal points by PND/Nutrition Cluster.
