Dear Health and Nutrition Clusters Colleagues:

Hello again.

I here share a draft summary meeting notes and actions from our today’s 
joint Health and Nutrition Cluster meeting.

Dr. David: I may not have the emails of all Health Cluster Partners. Please 
kindly share this meeting notes with them.

Please do reach back to me if I missed any points discussed:

*	Operational/logistics challenges around integration of nutrition in MHT 
was discussed.

*	Why this integration is slow to be reviewed and also help the partners on 
how to actually embed nutrition in MHT.
*	Though AHF funding mechanism alone may not allow for integration, there 
should be alternative solutions to this front.
*	Ensuring MHT structure is equipped enough to identify malnourished 
children as well as to respond/support to these children.

To this end, the training package should correspond to the service delivery 
structure we envisage so that MHT is equipped enough to respond with 
integrated health and nutrition packages.

*	There is already a national guideline on mobile health team

*	The suggestion is to build upon the July 2019 version of Mobile Health and 
Nutrition integrated guideline
*	Inclusion of psychosocial support as part of MHT structure

*	Recovery & Rehabilitation

*	MHT is part of the key response right after the emergency has hit, 
especially service delivery system and structures are damaged
*	In addition to immediate response, investments for recovery and 
rehabilitation, such as re-paring of health infrastructure are also needed. 
MoPH’s guidance and reach in recovery and rehabilitation of systems

and structure is also essential to this end.

*	Operational flexibility is required

*	Shifting of resources earmarked for already-high priority provinces but 
shift the resources to rapid on-set emergency locations/provinces
*	To this end, it is also necessary to make sure that the tools to properly 
capture most vulnerable groups are ready. This tool should also be part of 
contingency planning
*	BPHS frontline workers can respond; however they also need to do their 
contingency planning for their respective administrative boundary with 
essential medicines and relevant stocks.
*	Prepositioning of relevant stocks are necessary at all times given the 
frequency and scale of emergencies in Afghanistan

*	Actions:

*	Conducting joint health and nutrition cluster meetings right after 
emergency hits for better health and nutrition response
*	Timely nutrition response to monitor and prevent BMS distribution; To this 
end, it is important to identify certain vulnerable so that right assistance 
can be reached. This is also part of contingency planning(discussed above)
*	Helping BPHS in contingency planning
