Seasonal changes within contexts, whether=
 climatic, social or economic, contribute to evolving safety and access con=
cerns for humanitarians. From adverse weather shaping the activities of con=
flict actors, to transhumance driving intercommunal violence, recurrent sea=
sonal developments directly influence security challenges. In order to take=
 a conflict sensitive and proactive approach to planning for and mitigating=
 seasonal risks, NGOs need to subject them to thorough analysis.
INSO&rsquo;s latest thematic paper uses a=
 range of country case studies to illustrate the wide array of seasonal phe=
nomena that contribute to security challenges for humanitarians. Moreover, =
it illustrates how INSO&rsquo;s unique data set can provide crucial insight=
s into patterns of conflict activity and subsequent impacts on humanitarian=
 programmes.
