Today=2C 10 December=2C is Human Rights Day (https://www.un.org/en/observa=
nces/human-rights-day) . Such a day reminds us of an important rights-base=
d goal: to leave no one behind. And at the same time=2C it reminds us that=
 many individuals=2C communities and groups remain far behind and are at r=
isk of falling further behind in some key respects.

For instance=2C with the rise of Covid-19=2C we have seen instances of vac=
cine inequality=2C widening unemployment gaps=2C and gender discrimination=
 emerge alongside ongoing humanitarian needs and pre-existing vulnerabilit=
ies. Professor Karl Blanchet has written about the issue of vaccine inequa=
lity in a blog (https://humanitarianstudies.ch/access-to-vaccines-is-a-hum=
an-right/) this week.

The pandemic has highlighted and enhanced many inequalities around the wor=
ld=2C including in the worst humanitarian contexts=2C and challenges us to=
 reflect on what it means to leave no one behind in crises=2C why it remai=
ns out of reach=2C and how to reach the human rights goals packed into thi=
s concept.
