rs:</strong> Local reports suggest that IEA members from neighbouring distr=
icts have arrived close to Maymana City over last night and this morning. N=
umbers cited are thus far small, though may increase in the coming hours.&n=
bsp;<br /><br />Clashes near Maymana City were relatively few and mostly ha=
rassing in nature in the past days, causing few or no casualties and not re=
sulting in an OAG territorial advancement. <br /><br />However, the recent =
series of attacks on provincial capitals in the north and northeast, may ha=
ve both weakened ANSF moreale and emboldened OAG members. This gives some c=
redibility to local reports that OAG members may conduct an assault on Maym=
ana City within the next 24-48 hrs.&nbsp;</div>
<br />The previous advisory remains in place.&nbsp;<br /><br />
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 07 August, 0900 hrs:</str=
ong> Early this moring, at around 0300 hrs, OAG members attacked four ANSF =
positions around the Maymana City, in the Imam Sahib, Deh Sayedan, Baba Qos=
hqar, and Kohi Khana areas. The armed clash ended at around 0500 hrs; casua=
lty figures are unknown at this stage. <br /><br />The attacks were harassi=
ng in nature, aimed at demonstrating presence, and not part of an assault o=
n the city.</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 05 August, 1700 hrs:</str=
ong> Frontlines have remained static in Maymana City. Between 2300 hrs and =
0200 hrs, OAG members conducted three attacks on ANSF positions, in the Deh=
 Sayedan, Imam Sahib, and Baba Qoshar areas. All were harassing in nature, =
and only the Deh Sayedan attack resulted in casualties, with the ANSF respo=
nse resulting in two OAG members killed and five more wounded. No airstrike=
s were reported since the previous update.&nbsp;</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 02 August, 2200 hrs:</str=
ong> Five more small-scale OAG attacks took place in PD 1 since the previou=
s update, in the Baba Qushqar, Qutur, and Deh Sayedan areas, only one of wh=
ich resulted in ANSF casualties - one PGM member wounded. Three of them too=
k place in quick succession overnight - within the space of 20 minutes.&nbs=
p;<br /><br />As was the case in the last few days, the attacks were short-=
lived, and harassing in nature, with still no IEA intent to attempt a large=
r attack on the city. To an extent, this is due to the departure of many OA=
G members from the outskirts of Maymana to support the IEA's efforts in sou=
thern Shibirghan, with armed opposition not currently maintaining a signifi=
cant presence near Maymana City.</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 31 July, 1200 hrs:</stron=
g> Since the previous update, clashes of varying intensity have continued a=
round the security belt of Maymana City, in the <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/m=
aps/TcDMXUqnPA4A5iSW9">Bibi Ayena area</a>, as well as Qutur and Deh Sayeda=
n. The most impactful were several exchanges of IDF between OAG members and=
 ANSF, which, although causing limited combatant casualties, collaterally a=
ffected civilians (see, for example,&nbsp; AFGHANISTAN/NORTH/A/27072021/#00=
1-U1).&nbsp;<br /><br />Meanwhile, earlier this morning, at 0700 hrs, OAG m=
embers attacked an ANSF outpost using SAF, RPGs, and mortars in the Baba Qo=
shqar area of Maymana's PD 1, which lasted for over four hours, without, ho=
wever, causing any casualties. Both conflict parties remain in the area and=
 further exchanges can be expected in the coming 24-48 hrs.&nbsp;<br /><br =
/>The IEA is seemingly continuing to harass ANSF on the outskirts of provin=
cial capitals in Maymana as well as other cities in the country, pushing an=
d confining government forces closer and closer to the city centres. Compar=
ed to, for example, Shibirghan, in Maymana ANSF have largely stood their gr=
ound and withdrawals from the peripheries towards the centre have been mini=
mal so far. There is, furthermore no visible IEA intent for the time being =
to carry out a larger assault on the city, with the majority of attacks ove=
r the past days being harassing in nature.&nbsp;</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 27 July, 1500 hrs:</stron=
g> Since 27 June, OAG members have conducted a series of attacks against AN=
SF personnel stationed at the security belt checkpoints surrounding Maymana=
 City in Baba Qoshqar, Hemat Abad, Deh Sayedan, Qutur, Kohi Khana, and Imam=
 Sahib.&nbsp;<br /><br />The intensity and length of such attacks varies, w=
ith the majority being small-scale harassing attacks. Attacks occur frequen=
tly, with 34 attacks recorded since 27 June.&nbsp;</div>
<br />
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">NGOs are advised to avoid all movement =
through the security belt checkpoints and the title locations. The risk of =
collateral damage or involvement in a firefight remains very high, as armed=
 clashes may break out at any time of day without warning.&nbsp;<br /><br /=
>In addition, NGOs with staff living in areas close to security belt checkp=
oints are advised to ensure that communication and reporting channels with =
their staff remain operational.<br /><br /></div>

advised to remain indoors, away from windows, and seek shelter inside safe =
