rs:</strong> Both checkpoints remain in place and the IEA appears to not in=
tend to collapse them in the absence of an ANSF response. In both locations=
, OAG members are checking vehicles for government and ANSF members. <br />=
<br />However, INSO confirmed at least two IEA-authored incidents involving=
 the abduction of girls on the road. On 24 July, IEA members abducted the d=
aughter of a shopkeeper, while a week earlier, IEA members abducted a woman=
 and her daughter. While ANP members found the body of the mother in the sa=
me area on 27 July, the fate of the other girls abducted is unknown. Elsewh=
ere in, in Firoz Nakhchir and Hazrat-e Sultan districts, the second half of=
 July saw two more incidents of IEA abductions of girls. Two girls from Zel=
zela Abad Village in Firoz Nakhchir were abducted on 15 July, and another g=
irl was taken from the Kokjar area in Hazrat-e Sultan five days later.<br /=
><br />The reason for the abductions could not be confirmed as of the time =
of writing, nor could be a connection with a letter, allegedly distributed =
in several provinces earlier in July asking locals to surrender girls to ma=
rriage with IEA fighters. While the IEA officially stated the letter was fa=
ke, it is possible that some local-level commanders acted on it regardless.=

maps/fq1N8yP8e3MWDroC8">Ghazni Gak area</a> of the same district this morni=
ng at 0800 hrs. As in Pozi Firoz Nakhchir, this additional checkpoint is al=
so for searching for government employees and ANSF members inside passing v=
ehicles, and not for taxation.&nbsp;</div>
<br />The previous advisory remains in place, and is now extended to the Gh=
azni Gak area as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br />
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 30 July, 1430 hrs:</stron=
g> OAG members established a checkpoint in the Pozi Firoz Nakhchir area, an=
d are searching vehicles for government employees and ANSF members.&nbsp;<b=
r /><br />ANSF withdrew from an outpost in the same area in the early morni=
ng, and no longer have a presence there. Given recent clashes in Balkh's Kh=
ulm District on the same road, an immediate ANSF response is unlikely, and =
the checkpoint can be expected to remain in place until ANSF respond.&nbsp;=

rnal policies and risk appetite when travelling to the area, and to evaluat=
e the nature of their relationship with the armed opposition. NGO staff cho=
