r />Initial reporting that the blast was the result of an accidental explos=
ion at a pump station as a taxi was being refuelled are incorrect. Instead,=
 the blast resulted from a small IED allegedly brought by a child and empla=
ced between the pump and the taxi, the detonation of which wounded four civ=
ilians.&nbsp;<br /><br />The station itself is owned by the father of a Tur=
kmen boy, abducted by unknown individuals in late 2020. The abduction fuell=
ed numerous protests in Mazar-e Sharif (see, for example, AFGHANISTAN/NORTH=
/A/11022021/#005-U6). The small size of the device suggests that the incide=
nt may have been an intimidation attempt, however, the reason behind emplac=
ing the IED could not be fully confirmed at this time.&nbsp;&nbsp;</div>			=
