:</strong> ANSF personnel in Maymana City have established a frontline in t=
he Imam Saheb area between ANSF personnel and approximately 300 OAG members=
 in Pashtun Kot.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br />There have been three small-scale f=
irefights between OAG members and ANSF personnel in Imam Saheb since OAG me=
mbers established their position in Pashtun Kot on 20 June, but OAG members=
 have not made concerted efforts to enter the city.&nbsp;<br /><br /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">Pressure on ANSF members in Maymana Cit=
y has decreased, as approximately 200 OAG members have left Pashtun Kot to =
conduct coordinated assaults on the Gurziwan and Bilchiragh DACs. Reports s=
uggest that OAG members will attempt to overrun and capture both Gurziwan a=
nd Bilchiragh. If these efforts are successful, OAG members then plan to re=
turn the Maymana area to mount an attack on the city.</div>								</div>

:</strong> Approximately 500 OAG members from surrounding districts have ga=
thered outside Maymana City in Pashtun Kot District, apparently in preparat=
ion to launch an assault aimed at capturing the city. Reports suggest that =
approximately 1000 additional OAG members will join the group in Pashtun Ko=
t before the attack begins. OAG members have reportedly asked ANSF personne=
l within the city to surrender and facilitate a negotiated takeover of the =
city.<br /><br /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">A series of territorial gains in May an=
d June 2021 allowed OAG members to move closer to Maymana City in preparati=
on for an operation. OAG members are currently in control of the DACs of Al=
mar, Qaysar, Shirin Tagab, Khwaja Sabz Posh, and Dawlatabad. OAG members th=
erefore also control both the Maymana-Ghormach Road and the Maymana-Andkhoy=
 Road. They are able to monitor traffic and control all vehicle movement on=
 both routes.&nbsp;<br /><br />At the time of writing ANSF members had repo=
rtedly indicated that they did not want to confront OAG members, but there =
was no agreement to surrender. Recent surrenders of ANSF personnel around S=
ar-e Pul City in the first two weeks of June suggest that morale is low amo=
ngst ANSF members and at least some ANSF personnel in the city are highly l=
ikely to surrender.&nbsp;<br /><br />If a large-scale ANSF surrender does n=
ot take place OAG members will likely require additional resources to overr=
un the city: ANSF have between 1000 and 1500 well-resourced and equipped pe=
rsonnel in Maymana City. Reinforcements and supplies can also be sent to th=
e city from Shibirghan or Mazar-e Sharif City by air. However, ANSF resourc=
es in the Northern Region are under stress in response to significant OAG a=
ctivity in Sar-e Pul, Jawzjan, Balkh, and the North-Eastern Region. This ma=
y limit the availability of air assets to support ANSF in Maymana.&nbsp;<br=
 /><br />NGO staff are advised not to attempt to relocate from the city by =
road, as OAG members are in control of the Maymana-Shibirghan Road and are =
likely to establish checkpoints to monitor vehicle movement on this route. =
Relocation by road is advisable only if NGOs are confident regarding their =
acceptance level by OAGs in Faryab and their ability to pass the OAG checkp=
oints without endangering staff.<br /><br />NGOs in Maymana City are advise=
d to halt all movement within the city and prepare for hibernation. Should =
armed clashes commence within the city, NGO staff are advised to seek shelt=
er inside saferooms or other hardened structures, remain indoors, and stay =
away from windows.&nbsp;<br /><br />NGO security managers are advised to ma=
intain accountability for all staff members travelling, working, or residin=
