We are please to confirm that the 2021 revision of Afghanistan=E2=80=99s m=
ulti-year Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP 2018-2021) has just been publish=

The people of Afghanistan enter 2021 facing an uncertain political situati=
on but also with hope for change after 40 years of war. The HRP requests U=
S$1.3 billion to reach 15.7 million people in need of life-saving humanita=
rian support in 2021 due to the consequences of decades of conflict=2C rec=
urrent natural disasters=2C lack of recovery from past crises and the adde=
d strain of the COVID-19 pandemic. Social=2C health and economic impacts f=
rom COVID-19 continue to be felt across all demographic groups and are und=
ermining the coping capacity of an already vulnerable population=2C requir=
ing an expanded response. The significant increase in planned reach is lar=
gely driven by the sharp rise in the number of people in acute food insecu=
rity that require support to survive and ongoing health needs as a result=
 of COVID-19 that demand urgent attention.

The people of Afghanistan enter 2021 facing an uncertain political situati=
on but also with hope for change after 40 years of war. The HRP requests U=
S$1.3 billion to reach 15.7 million people in need of life-saving humanita=
rian support in 2021 due to the consequences of decades of conflict=2C rec=
urrent natural disasters=2C lack of recovery from past crises and the adde=
d strain of the COVID-19 pandemic. Social=2C health and economic impacts f=
rom COVID-19 continue to be felt across all demographic groups and are und=
ermining the coping capacity of an already vulnerable population=2C requir=
ing an expanded response. The significant increase in planned reach is lar=
gely driven by the sharp rise in the number of people in acute food insecu=
rity that require support to survive and ongoing health needs as a result=
 of COVID-19 that demand urgent attention.<br>
