:</strong> The armed clash in the Cheshm-e Shir area concluded yesterday, a=
t around 1630 hrs, when ANSF forced the AOG members to withdraw. Neverthele=
ss, in the Shinwari Ha and <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/maps/JQPf5r8C9XLfp5cz5=
">Wazirabad</a> areas, ANSF were firing warning shots in the air from appro=
ximately 2100 to 2300 hrs.<br /><br />AAF conducted at least one airstrike =
to target an AOG position in the Cheshm-e Shir area at around 1200 hrs, whi=
ch resulted in one AOG member killed and another one wounded. The governmen=
t air forces are still occasionally flying over Pul-e Khumri District, moni=
toring the security situation.<br /><br />An estimated 40 ANSF members of t=
he operation team that had been deployed from Pul-e Khumri City and Doshi D=
istrict on 09 July returned to their duty stations on 20 July, while the 60=
 others remain positioned in the Bagh-e Shamal and Cheshm-e Shir areas. Mor=
eover, the 50 ANP Special Forces from Aybak City remain in Hadbakhshi.<br /=
><br />AOG members remain positioned in the proximity of the Pul-e Khumri-A=
ybak Road, sporadically stopping passing commercial trucks when crossing th=
e Tajik Ha and Khwaja Alwan areas.<br /><br />The Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road i=
s open to civilian traffic since last evening. Nevertheless, given the heig=
htened ANSF and AOG presence in multiple areas along or in the proximity of=
 the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road, the risk of collateral damage when travelling=
 between Pul-e Khumri City and Samangan Province is still assessed to be hi=
gh. Furthermore, although the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road is open to traffic as=
 of the time of writing, traffic could be temporarily interrupted any time =
later today or in the coming days.</div>								</div>

:</strong> Today, at around 1400 hrs, AOG members ambushed ANSF members wit=
h SAF and RPGs in the Cheshm-e Shir area when the government troops attempt=
ed to recover a Humvee-type vehicle. An armed clash is ongoing in the area.=
<br /><br />The Humvee-type vehicle had been damaged as a result of an IED =
detonation today, at approximately 1245 hrs, when ANSF when carrying out an=
 incursion into an AOG-controlled area. In consequence, four ANSF members w=
ere killed and two more were wounded.<br /><br />Most of the ANSF operation=
 team members that had been deployed from Pul-e Khumri City and Doshi Distr=
ict, in Baghlan Province, and Aybak City, in Samangan Province, remain posi=
tioned in the Bagh-e Shamal, Cheshm-e Shir and <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/ma=
ps/cGKXBs7aBrM7MosX7">Hadbakhshi</a> areas.<br /><br />AAF is still occasio=
nally flying over Pul-e Khumri District, monitoring the security situation =
by air. On 19 July, at around 1100 hrs, AAF conducted at least two airstrik=
es targeting an AOG position in the <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/maps/F6KWJ1z4=
UPqkhXbh7">Wazghari</a> area of Pul-e Khumri District, with no casualties b=
eing reported.<br /><br />AOG members continue sporadically stopping passin=
g commercial trucks in the Tajik Ha and Khwaja Alwan areas.<br /><br />The =
Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road is now closed to civilian traffic in the Cheshm-e S=
hir area.<br /><br />The previous advisory remains in place.</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 18 July, 1415 hrs:</stron=
g> Today, at around 1100 hrs, AOG members collapsed their checkpoint in the=
 Tajik Ha area, along the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road, however, they are often =
establishing temporary positions in Cheshm-e Shir when commercial trucks ar=
e crossing the area.<br /><br />Apart from the ANSF members operating the c=
heckpoints along the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road, the ANSF operation team membe=
rs remain positioned in the Bagh-e Shamal, Cheshm-e Shir and Khwaja Alwan a=
reas.<br /><br />AAF is occasionally flying over Pul-e Khumri District, mon=
itoring the security situation by air.<br /><br />Yesterday, at around 0930=
 hrs, a roadside IED detonated in the Cheshm-e Shir area, along the Pul-e K=
humri-Aybak Road, when a private bus was passing. ANSF briefly closed the r=
oad to civilian traffic, and no casualties were reported.<br /><br />No fur=
ther incident has been reported. Nevertheless, given the heightened ANSF an=
d AOG presence in multiple areas along or in the proximity of the Pul-e Khu=
mri-Aybak Road, the risk of collateral damage when travelling between Pul-e=
 Khumri City and Samangan Province is still assessed to be high. Furthermor=
e, although the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road is open to traffic as of the time o=
f writing, traffic could be temporarily interrupted any time later today or=
 in the coming days.<br /><br />The previous advisory remains in place.</di=

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 16 July, 2030 hrs:</stron=
g> Today, at around 1730 hrs, AOG members established a checkpoint in the <=
a href=3D"https://goo.gl/maps/gciMJUHkB34JeSwy5">Tajik Ha</a> area, along t=
he Pul-e Khumri Road, to demand informal taxation from passing commercial t=
rucks.<br /><br />In the early morning of yesterday, at approximately 0300 =
hrs, an estimated 20-30 ANA commandos, part of the ANSF operation team that=
 had been deployed to the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road on 09 July, conducted a n=
ight raid targeting AOG members in the Bagh-e Shamal area. As a result, sev=
en AOG members were killed and another nine wounded.<br /><br />During the =
same morning, at around 0800 hrs, ANSF (EOD) team members discovered and de=
fused nine IEDs emplaced in the Bagh-e Shamal and Cheshm-e Shir areas.<br /=
><br />Last night, at 2300 hrs, AOG members attacked an ANA checkpoint alon=
g the main road, in the <a href=3D"https://goo.gl/maps/gjHAEenEtpV3pVDA8">M=
ulayan</a> area of Pul-e Khumri District. During a brief firefight, one ANA=
 soldier was wounded.<br /><br />The Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road has remained o=
pen to civilian traffic since the last update. That said, the risk of colla=
teral damage when travelling through this road is still assessed to be high=
.<br /><br />The previous advisory remains in place.</div>
<br />
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 15 July, 0930 hrs:</stron=
g> The force of approximately 150 ANSF members remains in place in the Khwa=
ja Alwan area. Beginning early this morning, ANSF have been conducting acti=
ve patrols along the section of the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road that had recent=
ly witnessed the presence of several AOG CPs.<br />&nbsp;</div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">No further SAF has been reported in the=
 area since 1800 hrs, yesterday evening. While AOGs are likely still presen=
t in the Bagh-e Shamal and Cheshm-e Shir areas along the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak=
 Road, it seems that AOG members are unlikely to directly engage the large =
group of ANSF members present in the area. That said, further AOG members m=
ay conduct further sporadic harassing attacks against smaller ANSF patrols =
from concealed positions in forested areas along the highway.&nbsp;<br /><b=
r /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">The Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road remains ope=
n to all civilian traffic.<br /><br />The previous advisory remains in plac=
e.</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 14 July, 1245 hrs:</stron=
g> After an hour-long firefight, the force of 150 ANSF members managed to p=
ush AOG members back from the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road in the Khwaja Alwan a=
rea, where they had maintained an informal checkpoint since the morning of =
10 July.&nbsp;<br /><br /></div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">While no further heavy fighting has bee=
n reported since approximately 1030 hrs, AOG members have redeployed to the=
 nearby areas of Bagh-e Shamal and Cheshm-e Shir areas, located just north =
and south of the road, from where they are continuing to sporadically attac=
k ANSF members with SAF. While ANSF members, including the 50 ANP Special F=
orces members who were deployed from Aybak City on 13 July, remain in the K=
hwaja Alwan area, they are unlikely to pursue AOG members into the resident=
ial areas of Bagh-e Shamal and Cheshm-e Shir, given extensive IED contamina=
tion in both of these areas. AAF air assets continue to conduct patrols ove=
rhead to support ANSF members deployed to Khwaja Alwan area, but no further=
 airstrikes have been reported since 0730 hrs this morning when AAF targete=
d AOG position in Bagh-e Shamal in a series of two airstrikes.<br /><br />A=
NSF intend to remain in the Khwaja Alwan area for at least several more hou=
rs and both sides are likely to continue to exchange SAF throughout the res=
t of the day.&nbsp;</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 14 July, 0845 hrs:</stron=
g> Today earlier in the morning, the ANSF operation team which had been dep=
loyed to Bagh-e Shamal has attempted to advance in the area targeting the A=
OG positions, and an armed clash is ongoing.<br /><br />AAF is giving air s=
upport to the ANSF ground troops, and conducted at least two airstrikes tar=
geting AOG positions in the Bagh-e Shamal area today, at around 0730 hrs.<b=
r /><br />The ANP (Special Forces) operation team which had been deployed t=
o Hadbakhshi remain positioned in the area.<br /><br />In the Khwaja Alwan =
area, AOG members are still positioned in the proximity of the Pul-e Khumri=
-Aybak Road, reportedly demanding informal taxation from passing commercial=
 trucks when ANSF temporarily open the road to civilian traffic.<br /><br /=
>Casualty figures remain the same as previously reported.<br /><br />The Pu=

round 1530 hrs, and an armed clash is ongoing with SAF and RPGs. The ANSF o=
peration team remains positioned in the area and is engaged in the firefigh=
t.<br /><br />AAF has continued to provide air support, however, no more ai=
rstrikes have been reported.<br /><br />Casualty figures remain the same as=
 previously reported.<br /><br />ANSF had closed the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Roa=
d to civilian traffic at around 1400 hrs.<br /><br />The previous advisory =

g> The armed clash in the Bagh-e Shamal area concluded last night, at aroun=
d 0000 hrs, however, ANSF and AOG members remain positioned in the area. Bo=
th sides had stopped firing from 1700 to 2300 hrs, period in which ANSF all=
owed small private vehicles to cross the road. ANSF had fired at least five=
 artillery rounds from the Semet Khana mountain to target the AOG positions=
 in the area. Furthermore, at around 1045 hrs, a roadside IED emplaced alon=
g a secondary road detonated near a passing ANSF Humvee-type vehicle.<br />=
<br />In addition to the casualty figures previously reported, one ANA sold=
ier has been killed and another one wounded as a result of the firefight, a=
nd one ANP member was killed and one more wounded due to the IED detonation=
.<br /><br />In the Khwaja Alwan area, AOG members are still positioned in =
the proximity of the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road.<br /><br />The traffic on the=
 Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road has continued to be intermittently interrupted bas=
ed on the security situation. As of the time of writing, the road is open t=
o small private vehicles. Commercial trucks, however, have not been allowed=
 to cross the road since the last update.<br /><br />The previous advisory =

g> Earlier in the morning today, at around 0500 hrs, an armed clash erupted=
 between the ANSF operation team and AOG members with SAF and RPGs in the B=
agh-e Shamal area and is ongoing. ANSF are firing artillery from the Semet =
Khana mountain towards the AOG positions in the area.<br /><br />In the Khw=
aja Alwan area, AOG members are still positioned in the proximity of the Pu=
l-e Khumri-Aybak Road.<br /><br />The Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road is now closed=
 to civilian traffic.<br /><br />The previous advisory remains in place.<br=

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 10 July, 1345 hrs:</stron=
g> Today, at around 0900 hrs, the AOG members collapsed their checkpoint in=
 the Cheshm-e Shir area, however, established another position in the neigh=
bouring Khwaja Alwan at around the same time. Residents have left the area,=
 reportedly, considering the portential for furhter armed clashes and the r=
isk of collateral damage.<br /><br />The ANSF operation team remains positi=
oned in the Bagh-e Shamal area.<br /><br />In addition to the casualty figu=
res previously reported, one ANA mid-level commander, well-known in Baghlan=
 Province, had been killed in the armed clash that took place yesterday in =
Bagh-e Shamal.<br /><br />The Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road, remaining open to sm=
all private vehicles since last night, has been reopened to commercial truc=
ks today, at around 0600 hrs.<br /><br />The previous advisory remains in p=
lace.</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><strong>As of 09 July, 2200 hrs:</stron=
g> The previously reported armed clash had erupted in the <a href=3D"https:=
//goo.gl/maps/mQssoxiUd2gjCvBm6">Bagh-e Shamal</a> area, when AOG members a=
mbushed the ANSF on their way to Cheshm-e Shir. The firefight concluded at =
around 1800 hrs when the ANSF operation team forced the AOG members to with=
draw from the proximity of the Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road. From approximately =
1500 to 1700 hrs, ANSF fired at least 10 artillery rounds from the Semet Kh=
ana mountain towards the AOG positions in Bagh-e Shamal.<br /><br />At arou=
nd 1500 hrs, one IED emplaced along a secondary road in the Bagh-e Shamal a=
rea detonated, killing one ANP member and wounding another one. Reportedly,=
 the risk of further explosives in the area is blocking the ANSF progress t=
o force the AOG members to withdraw from the area.</div>
<div style=3D"text-align: justify;"><br />Furthermore, at approximately 160=
0 hrs, AAF has conducted at least one airstrike in Bagh-e Shamal and anothe=
r one in Cheshm-e Shir.<br /><br />In addition to the casualty figures alre=
ady reported, one ANP member has been killed and two others wounded, and fo=
ur AOG members have been killed and two more wounded.<br /><br />In the Che=
shm-e Shir area, AOG members are still operating the checkpoint.<br /><br /=
>The Pul-e Khumri-Aybak Road is now open to small private vehicles, however=
