d an ANP checkpoint and the private residence of an ANP member, using SAF a=
nd RPGs. Seven ALP and four ANP members were killed, six ALP and three ANP =
members, including the District Chief of Police, were wounded. Three AOG me=
mbers were killed and three others were wounded. AOG members withdrew from =
the area following the clash.&nbsp;</div>

<div style=3D"text-align: justify;">Reportedly, the AOG members including a=
 small number of Red Unit members, originating from the <a href=3D"https://=
goo.gl/maps/YkNK45pJNTU1W5nB9">Dosad</a> area, took the opportunity to carr=
y out the attack targeting off-duty ANSF members attending the wedding part=
y which belongs to the Khwajaghar District Chief of Police (DCOP). <br /><b=
r />The AOG members initially attacked an ANP checkpoint in the DAC area wh=
ich was in the vicinity of the DCOP private residence and forced ANP member=
s to withdraw. Subsequently, AOG members engaged with the ALP members aroun=
d the DCOP residence.</div>

ted incidents were recorded, targeting DACs in the Northeast Region, namely=
 Khwajaghar DAC and Dasht-e Qala DAC of Takhar Province; and Maimai DAC and=
 Yamgan DAC of Badakshan Province. Following a relative calm during the red=
uction of violence agreement, this indicates an emerging trend of AOG membe=
rs to target DACs with relatively big groups to inflict heavy casualties to=
 ANSF members or to overrun DACs, as in the case of Yamgan DAC.<br /><br />=
INSO recorded four AOG authored incidents in March 2020 in Khwajaghar Distr=
ict compared to five incidents in March 2019, indicating the sustained pres=
ence of AOG members in the area. The tactics and timing of the incident als=
o revealed that the AOG members are likely local to the area with an establ=
ished information network and a certain degree of acceptance from the local=
 population. <br /><br />AOG attacks targeting weddings are of common occur=
rence given the opposition to some practices during such ceremonies, combin=
ed with the fact that high-profile attendees may be more vulnerable during =
these events. As such, since January 2019, INSO recorded 16 AOG authored in=
cidents targeting weddings in Afghanistan. For instance on 25 January in Kh=
ost Province, AOG members threw four hand grenades into a private compound =
in which a wedding ceremony was underway. The detonation wounded 22 civilia=
ns. The motive was apparently that the wedding party played music despite t=
he fact that AOG members had, one day before the wedding, warned community =
elders to not play music and implied consequences if the wedding party shou=
ld not adhere to this warning. <br /><br />As per the Northeast region, on =
10 March in Dasht-e Arch District of Kunduz Province, AOG members broke int=
o a private residence during a wedding party and abducted two civilians. In=
 addition, on 10 February in Baghlan Province, A BBIED operative prematurel=
y detonated at the entrance of a wedding hall. One AOG member was killed an=
d two civilians were wounded.<br /><br />Furthermore, the US-IEA agreement =
left a sense of victory which resonates among the lower ranks of AOG member=
s. This increased motivation paired with the coming of the spring points to=
 a direction where high-casualty attacks, largely against ANSF, may increas=
e in frequency in the near future in Takhar, as well as other parts of the =
Northeast Region.</div>								</div>
